Traverse will not send email notifications for test threshold violations (critical/warning severities etc) unless an "action profile" has been assigned to that test. Action profiles tell Traverse when to trigger action items such as email notifications, and control repeating actions, action schedules, and action escalation paths.

For details and instructions, see the Traverse User Guide section 11.1 (http://www.zyrion.com/support/docs/v4.8/wwhelp/wwhimpl/api.htm?href=Traverse_UserGuide_48-13-02.html), Actions and Notifications. This section details the alerting system in Traverse, and sections 11.7 - 11.9 walk through the steps for creating an action profile and applying it to tests.

In Release 5.X.X of the Traverse software, 'Actions and Notifications' are covered in Chapter10.

You typically set up an action profile where you specify an action to be triggered when a test changes status to the status you wish to be notified upon.

Action Profiles are set up by logging (or representing) as an end user with adequate privileges and navigating to Administration --> Actions

The 'Notify Using' drop down list allows you to pick an out of the box notification action, as also any custom actions that you implement.

The 'Notify when tests in state' specifies the change to a new test status that causes notification. For instance, checking the box Ok and Critical will trigger a notification when the test status changes to critical and then again when the test status changes to Ok.
